Data Privacy Specialist
We are seeking a knowledgeable Data Privacy Specialist to support the development, implementation and continual improvement of data protection practices across the organisation. This role will help ensure that personal information is handled lawfully, securely and transparently throughout its lifecycle, while promoting a strong culture of privacy and accountability.
You will provide practical advice on data protection requirements, privacy risks and appropriate controls across a range of business activities. Key responsibilities will include maintaining records of processing activities, supporting data protection impact assessments, reviewing privacy notices and advising on data-sharing arrangements, supplier contracts and international transfers. You will also help assess new products, systems and processes to identify privacy considerations at an early stage.
The role will involve monitoring compliance with applicable data protection legislation, internal policies and industry standards. You will support the management of individual rights requests, personal data breaches and related investigations, ensuring that matters are recorded, escalated and resolved within required timescales. You may also contribute to audits, risk assessments, policy reviews and reports for senior stakeholders.
Working collaboratively with legal, information security, technology, procurement and operational teams, you will deliver privacy guidance and awareness activity to colleagues at all levels. This may include preparing training materials, responding to queries and helping embed privacy by design and by default into everyday practices.
The successful candidate will have experience in a data protection, privacy, compliance or information governance role, with a sound understanding of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and relevant regulatory guidance. Experience of conducting impact assessments, managing rights requests, reviewing contracts or handling data incidents would be advantageous. A recognised privacy qualification, such as CIPP/E, CIPT or an equivalent professional accreditation, is desirable.
You will be analytical, organised and confident communicating complex requirements in clear, practical language. The ability to manage competing priorities, work with sensitive information discreetly and build effective relationships across different teams is essential.
