Data Governance & Privacy
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance & Privacy professional to help strengthen the responsible management, protection and use of data across a complex and evolving environment. This role will support the development of practical governance frameworks, promote a culture of accountability and help ensure that personal and business-critical information is handled lawfully, securely and effectively.
You will develop, maintain and improve data governance policies, standards and procedures, working closely with stakeholders across technology, legal, risk, security and operational teams. You will support data ownership and stewardship models, clarify accountability and help establish consistent approaches to data quality, classification, retention and lifecycle management.
A key part of the role will involve advising on privacy requirements, including data protection impact assessments, records of processing activities, data-sharing arrangements, data subject rights and the management of privacy risks. You will contribute to assurance activity, monitor compliance with applicable legislation and internal standards, and support the investigation and resolution of data incidents or control issues.
You will also help deliver training and awareness initiatives, prepare clear reports for senior stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement programmes. The role requires someone who can translate regulatory and technical requirements into practical guidance, influence decision-making and build effective working relationships across a diverse range of teams.
Applicants should have demonstrable experience in data governance, privacy, information management, risk or a closely related discipline. You will have a good understanding of UK data protection legislation and relevant regulatory principles, alongside experience of developing policies, conducting assessments and managing governance activities. Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and work confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Professional qualifications or recognised training in data protection, privacy, information governance or data management would be advantageous. In return, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to trustworthy data practices while working in a collaborative and forward-looking environment.
