Data Governance & Privacy
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance & Privacy professional to help strengthen the way data is managed, protected and used across the organisation. This role will support the development of a clear, practical and consistent data governance framework, ensuring that data is accurate, accessible, secure and handled in line with applicable privacy legislation and internal standards.
You will work closely with stakeholders across technology, legal, compliance, information security and business functions to establish effective data ownership, accountability and controls. Key responsibilities will include maintaining data policies, standards and procedures; supporting data inventories and records of processing activities; defining data quality requirements; and helping teams understand and meet their responsibilities for the appropriate use of personal and sensitive information.
The role will also contribute to privacy impact assessments, data protection reviews, retention and deletion programmes, data subject rights processes and the management of data-related risks and incidents. You will monitor compliance with relevant legislation, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, and provide clear, proportionate advice on emerging requirements, new projects and changes to data use. Where necessary, you will help coordinate remediation plans and track actions through to completion.
We are looking for someone with demonstrable experience in data governance, information management, privacy or a related discipline. You should have a sound understanding of UK data protection principles, data lifecycle management, risk assessment and governance frameworks. Experience of developing policies, improving data quality, documenting processes and working with cross-functional stakeholders is essential. Professional qualifications in data protection, privacy, governance or information security would be advantageous.
You will be a confident communicator with strong analytical and organisational skills, able to translate complex regulatory and technical requirements into practical guidance. The successful candidate will be collaborative, detail-focused and comfortable managing competing priorities while promoting a culture of responsible data use.
