An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Privacy Specialist to support the responsible handling of personal information across a UK-based organisation. This role will provide practical guidance on data protection matters, help strengthen privacy controls and promote a culture of compliance throughout the business.
You will advise colleagues on the application of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and related privacy requirements. Key responsibilities will include maintaining records of processing activities, supporting data protection impact assessments, reviewing privacy notices and assisting with the management of data subject rights requests. You will also contribute to the assessment and reporting of personal data breaches, ensuring that risks are identified, escalated and addressed appropriately.
The successful candidate will work closely with legal, information security, procurement, technology and operational teams. You will assist with supplier and third-party privacy assessments, review data processing agreements, monitor compliance actions and help prepare clear reports for senior stakeholders. The role will also involve developing and delivering privacy training, maintaining internal guidance and keeping informed of changes in legislation, regulatory guidance and industry practice.
We are seeking someone with proven experience in a data protection, privacy or compliance role, ideally within a complex or regulated environment. You should have a sound working knowledge of UK GDPR principles, individual rights, international data transfers, records management and breach response. Experience of privacy impact assessments, supplier due diligence and working with cross-functional teams would be advantageous.
You will be analytical, organised and confident communicating with people at all levels. The ability to explain technical or legal requirements in a clear, practical manner is essential, as is strong attention to detail and the judgement to handle sensitive information appropriately. A relevant professional qualification, such as CIPP/E, CIPM or an equivalent data protection qualification, would be welcomed but is not essential.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to privacy governance while developing your expertise in a collaborative and supportive environment.
