Data Privacy Senior Associate - 12 month FTC/Secondment

We are seeking an experienced Data Privacy Senior Associate for a 12-month fixed-term contract or secondment. This is an excellent opportunity for a privacy professional to provide practical, commercially focused advice across a broad range of data protection and information governance matters. You will work closely with legal, compliance, technology, security, procurement, marketing, HR and other business teams, helping to ensure that personal data is handled lawfully, transparently and responsibly.

Your responsibilities will include advising on data protection requirements under applicable privacy legislation, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018; reviewing and negotiating data processing agreements and other privacy-related contractual terms; supporting data protection impact assessments, transfer risk assessments, legitimate interest assessments and records of processing activities; and assisting with the development, implementation and maintenance of privacy policies, procedures and guidance. You will also support responses to data subject rights requests, personal data breaches, regulatory enquiries and internal audits, while helping to deliver privacy training and promote a strong data protection culture. The role may also involve advising on new technologies, digital products, artificial intelligence, cookies, direct marketing and international data transfers.

You will be a qualified solicitor or barrister, or an experienced privacy professional with substantial in-house or private practice experience. You should have strong knowledge of UK and European data protection law, excellent drafting and communication skills, and the ability to translate complex legal requirements into clear, practical advice. Experience managing multiple priorities, working with senior stakeholders and delivering projects to deadlines is essential. A pragmatic, collaborative approach and sound commercial judgement are equally important. Experience in a regulated, technology-driven or internationally operating environment, together with familiarity with privacy management tools and information security principles, would be advantageous. This role would suit someone who can work confidently and independently while contributing positively to a busy, supportive team.
