Senior Cyber Security Technical Specialist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Cyber Security Technical Specialist to provide expert technical leadership across a broad range of cyber security activities. You will help protect critical systems, services and data by designing, implementing and continuously improving robust security controls within a complex technology environment.
The role will involve leading the investigation and resolution of security incidents, supporting threat detection and response, and undertaking detailed analysis of vulnerabilities, attack techniques and emerging risks. You will work closely with infrastructure, applications, cloud, networks and service delivery teams to ensure that security requirements are embedded throughout the technology lifecycle.
Key responsibilities will include conducting security assessments, reviewing technical designs, managing vulnerability remediation, and contributing to penetration testing and assurance activity. You will develop and maintain security standards, procedures and technical guidance, while providing clear, practical advice to stakeholders at all levels. The postholder will also support risk assessments, audit activity, compliance reporting and the continual improvement of security monitoring and incident response capabilities.
You will be expected to contribute to security architecture and engineering decisions, assess new technologies and recommend appropriate solutions. The position may include mentoring colleagues, coordinating technical workstreams and representing cyber security at project meetings and governance forums. A proactive approach to identifying weaknesses and reducing organisational risk will be essential.
Applicants should have substantial experience in a technical cyber security role, with strong knowledge of security operations, vulnerability management, incident response and security principles across on-premises and cloud environments. Experience with security monitoring tools, endpoint protection, identity and access management, network security and relevant scripting or automation technologies is desirable.
You will need excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly, and experience working collaboratively with technical and non-technical audiences. Relevant professional certifications or demonstrable equivalent experience would be advantageous. This role is suited to a technically capable and motivated security professional who is keen to make a measurable contribution to improving cyber resilience.
