Senior Cyber Software Engineer/ Technical Lead

We are seeking a Senior Cyber Software Engineer / Technical Lead to design, develop and guide the delivery of secure, resilient software solutions for complex cyber and national security challenges. You will provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment and ongoing improvement. The role will involve working closely with software engineers, cyber specialists, systems engineers and stakeholders to translate operational needs into practical, high-quality technical outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include defining software and system architectures; leading the development of secure, scalable applications and services; conducting technical reviews and promoting engineering best practice; and supporting the integration of new capabilities into existing environments. You will identify and manage technical risks, contribute to security-by-design activities, and ensure that solutions meet relevant quality, performance and assurance standards. You will also mentor engineers, support capability development, and act as a trusted technical authority in customer and project discussions. Depending on project requirements, you may contribute to automation, data processing, cloud technologies, network security, reverse engineering or cyber operations tooling.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in software engineering, with a strong understanding of secure development principles and modern engineering practices. Experience leading technical teams or providing architecture-level guidance is essential, together with proficiency in one or more languages such as Python, C++, Java, Go or Rust. You should be comfortable working with Linux and/or Windows environments, version control, automated testing, continuous integration and deployment pipelines, and contemporary development frameworks. Knowledge of cyber security concepts, distributed systems, containerisation, cloud platforms or DevSecOps would be highly valued. Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to work independently, collaborate effectively and make sound technical decisions in a changing environment. Eligibility for relevant security clearance may be required.
