Senior Cyber Security Technical Specialist
We are seeking a Senior Cyber Security Technical Specialist to provide expert technical leadership across a broad range of cyber security activities. This is an opportunity to play a key role in protecting critical systems, applications and information assets, while supporting the development of a mature, risk-based security capability.
You will design, implement and maintain effective security controls across infrastructure, cloud services, networks, applications and end-user environments. Working closely with technology and business teams, you will provide authoritative advice on security architecture, secure design, vulnerability management, identity and access management, encryption, monitoring and incident response.
Key responsibilities will include leading the investigation and remediation of complex security vulnerabilities, contributing to security assessments and threat modelling, and supporting the development of technical standards, policies and procedures. You will monitor emerging threats and technologies, assess their potential impact, and recommend proportionate improvements. The role will also involve contributing to cyber incident management, forensic investigations and post-incident reviews, helping to strengthen resilience and prevent recurrence.
You will act as a trusted technical adviser, translating complex security risks into clear recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You may also provide technical guidance to colleagues, support assurance activities and audits, and help develop practical security awareness across the organisation.
Applicants should have substantial experience in a cyber security or information security technical role, together with a strong understanding of security principles, standards and recognised frameworks. Practical experience across areas such as network security, cloud security, vulnerability assessment, security operations or incident response is essential. Experience of working with security tools, interpreting technical data and managing remediation activity is also required.
Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, GIAC or equivalent, would be advantageous. You will need excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and the confidence to influence decisions at all levels. A proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential.
