Senior Cyber Software Engineer/ Technical Lead

We are seeking a Senior Cyber Software Engineer/Technical Lead to design, develop and deliver secure software capabilities for complex cyber and national security environments. You will provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and architecture through implementation, integration, testing, deployment and ongoing support. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering, security and operational teams, you will translate mission needs into robust, scalable and maintainable solutions.

Your responsibilities will include leading software design activities, establishing engineering standards and reviewing technical approaches; developing high-quality applications, services, tools and automation; and guiding the resolution of complex technical issues. You will contribute to system architecture, secure coding practices, DevSecOps pipelines, continuous integration and delivery, and the integration of software with wider platforms and networks. The role will also involve mentoring engineers, coordinating technical tasks, managing delivery risks and communicating progress, decisions and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Applicants should have significant professional experience in software engineering, with proven capability in one or more languages such as Python, Java, C++, C#, or Go, together with practical knowledge of software architecture, APIs, databases, testing and version control. Experience delivering secure or cyber-focused systems, working in Linux environments, and using automated build, deployment and monitoring tools is highly desirable. You should be confident leading technical teams, solving problems in ambiguous environments and balancing innovation with reliability, security and operational needs. Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills are essential. Experience with cloud technologies, containerisation, threat modelling, network security or relevant security frameworks would be advantageous. Eligibility for appropriate security clearance may be required.
