We are seeking a SOC Engineer to join a security operations function responsible for protecting critical systems, applications and data. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting the detection, investigation and response to cyber security incidents while helping to strengthen the organisation’s overall security posture.

You will monitor security alerts and events across the environment, investigate suspicious activity and assess potential threats using security information and event management (SIEM), endpoint detection and response (EDR), network monitoring and vulnerability management tools. You will triage incidents, determine their severity and impact, and coordinate appropriate containment, eradication and recovery actions in line with documented procedures.

The role will involve developing and tuning detection rules, creating dashboards and improving alert quality to reduce false positives. You will contribute to incident response investigations, preserve relevant evidence, produce clear technical reports and ensure incidents are accurately recorded and escalated. You will also support threat hunting, vulnerability assessments, security tool administration and the continuous improvement of operational processes and playbooks.

Applicants should have experience in a security operations, incident response or related technical security role, with a sound understanding of common attack techniques, security controls and the cyber security lifecycle. Practical experience with SIEM and EDR technologies is highly desirable, alongside knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, cloud environments and identity services. Familiarity with frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST or Cyber Kill Chain would be advantageous.

You will be analytical, methodical and confident working under pressure, with the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. A willingness to participate in an on-call or shift-based support rota may be required. Relevant industry certifications, such as Security+, CySA+, GCIH, GCIA or equivalent practical experience, would be beneficial.
