We are seeking an experienced Senior KIM Lead and Deputy Data Protection Officer to provide strategic leadership across knowledge and information management, ensuring that information is managed securely, effectively and in line with legal, regulatory and organisational requirements.
You will lead the development and delivery of knowledge and information management strategies, policies and standards. This will include overseeing information governance, records management, retention and disposal arrangements, information assurance, data quality and the effective use of collaboration and document management systems. You will promote consistent good practice, improve access to trusted information and support a culture in which information is treated as a valuable organisational asset.
As Deputy Data Protection Officer, you will support compliance with UK data protection legislation and related guidance. You will provide practical advice on data protection risks, privacy by design, data sharing, records of processing, data protection impact assessments and individual rights requests. You will also assist with monitoring compliance, investigating incidents, maintaining appropriate documentation and preparing reports for senior stakeholders and governance forums.
The role will involve managing and influencing a broad range of stakeholders, including senior leaders, information asset owners, policy and legal colleagues, technology teams and operational staff. You will lead improvement projects, develop guidance and training, and provide clear, proportionate advice on complex information governance matters. You may also supervise colleagues or coordinate specialist support, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
Applicants should have substantial experience in knowledge and information management, information governance, records management or a related field, together with a strong understanding of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and relevant regulatory expectations. You will need excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, sound professional judgement and the ability to explain complex requirements clearly to varied audiences. Experience of leading change, managing competing priorities and working collaboratively at senior level is essential. Relevant professional qualifications or membership of an appropriate information, records or data protection body would be advantageous.
