Platform Security & Compliance Lead (Contract)

We are seeking an experienced Platform Security & Compliance Lead to support the delivery of secure, resilient and compliant technology platforms. This contract role will lead security and compliance activities across cloud infrastructure, platform engineering and operational environments, ensuring that controls are embedded throughout the development and service lifecycle.

You will work closely with engineering, architecture, risk, legal and operational teams to assess security risks, define pragmatic controls and support the implementation of improvements. Responsibilities will include maintaining security and compliance roadmaps, reviewing platform designs, overseeing vulnerability and remediation programmes, and ensuring that risks are clearly documented, prioritised and managed.

The role will involve developing and maintaining policies, standards, procedures and technical control frameworks aligned with relevant regulatory requirements and recognised standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST or CIS. You will coordinate evidence collection for audits and assurance reviews, respond to findings, track corrective actions and provide clear reporting to senior stakeholders.

You will also advise on identity and access management, encryption, logging and monitoring, configuration management, incident response, third-party risk and business continuity. A key part of the role will be promoting secure-by-design practices, helping teams understand their responsibilities and embedding effective governance without unnecessarily slowing delivery.

Applicants should have substantial experience in platform, cloud or infrastructure security, with a strong understanding of security governance, risk management and compliance frameworks. You will be confident interpreting technical detail, translating requirements into practical actions and influencing stakeholders at all levels. Experience working within regulated environments and supporting internal or external audits would be highly advantageous.

Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, together with the ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment. The successful contractor will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, challenging constructively and delivering clear, well-evidenced outcomes within agreed timescales.
