Senior Data Protection Analyst
We are seeking a Senior Data Protection Analyst to support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of data protection and privacy practices across a complex organisation. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance on applicable data protection legislation, regulatory expectations and internal policies, helping teams embed privacy considerations into everyday processes, products and services. This is an influential role requiring strong analytical skills, sound judgement and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Key responsibilities will include advising on data protection impact assessments, legitimate interest assessments, data sharing arrangements, international transfers, retention requirements and the use of privacy-enhancing technologies. You will maintain and improve records of processing activities, support responses to data subject rights requests, contribute to the management and investigation of personal data breaches, and assist with regulatory notifications where required. The role will also involve reviewing and drafting privacy notices, contracts, policies and procedures, monitoring compliance activity, identifying risks and recommending proportionate mitigation. You will help deliver awareness and training programmes, prepare clear reports for senior stakeholders, and support audits, assurance reviews and wider privacy improvement initiatives.
Applicants should have substantial experience in data protection, privacy, information governance or a closely related discipline, with a strong working knowledge of the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and relevant regulatory guidance. A recognised privacy or data protection qualification, such as CIPP/E, CIPM, BCS or an equivalent professional certification, is desirable. You will be confident interpreting complex requirements, managing competing priorities and producing accurate, well-structured documentation. Experience handling incidents, conducting risk assessments and working with legal, security, technology and operational teams is highly valued. We are looking for someone proactive, pragmatic and collaborative, who can influence decision-making, explain technical or legal concepts clearly, and uphold high standards of confidentiality, integrity and professional conduct.
