Reference: 82w69zhzv54drih5lqwz

We are seeking an experienced Data Protection Consultant to provide practical, commercially focused advice on UK GDPR, EU GDPR and international data protection requirements. You will support organisations in managing privacy risk, strengthening governance and meeting their legal and regulatory obligations across a range of projects and business activities.

Your responsibilities will include advising on data protection impact assessments, records of processing activities, data-sharing arrangements, privacy notices, retention schedules and data subject rights requests. You will assess and advise on international data transfers, including the use of appropriate safeguards, transfer risk assessments and relevant contractual measures. You will also support the review and negotiation of data processing agreements, supplier arrangements and technology implementations, ensuring that privacy considerations are addressed from the outset. The role will involve monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, preparing clear written reports and recommendations, maintaining documentation, and delivering engaging guidance or training to stakeholders at all levels.

To succeed, you will have strong working knowledge of the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, with a sound understanding of applicable international data transfer frameworks and privacy legislation. Experience of conducting data protection impact assessments, advising on cross-border processing and interpreting complex requirements for non-specialist audiences is essential. You should be confident working independently, managing competing priorities and exercising sound judgement when dealing with sensitive or ambiguous issues. Excellent communication, analytical and drafting skills are required, together with a practical, solutions-oriented approach. A recognised privacy or data protection qualification, such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT or an equivalent professional certification, would be advantageous. Experience within a consultancy, legal, regulatory, technology or similarly complex environment would also be welcomed.
