Hardware Security and Connectivity Engineer
We are seeking a Hardware Security and Connectivity Engineer to design, develop and maintain secure, reliable connectivity solutions for advanced electronic products. This role will contribute to the full product lifecycle, from early architecture and prototyping through to validation, production and ongoing improvement. You will work across hardware, firmware and systems engineering to ensure robust security and communications performance.
Your responsibilities will include defining hardware security architectures, selecting suitable components and developing secure interfaces for wired and wireless connectivity. You will assess security risks, contribute to threat modelling and support the implementation of measures such as secure boot, hardware root of trust, encryption, key management, tamper detection and trusted execution technologies. You will also help ensure that designs meet relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements and internal security guidelines.
You will lead or support the integration and testing of connectivity technologies, which may include Ethernet, USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, CAN or other embedded communication protocols. Duties will include creating test strategies, analysing performance and security results, investigating faults and working with suppliers and engineering teams to resolve issues. You will document technical decisions, requirements, verification evidence and recommendations for future designs.
Applicants should have experience in hardware security, embedded systems, electronics engineering or a closely related discipline, together with a sound understanding of secure hardware design and communication protocols. Experience with schematic capture, PCB development, laboratory test equipment and debugging tools is expected. Familiarity with cryptographic principles, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, security standards and embedded Linux or real-time operating systems would be advantageous.
You will be a proactive and methodical engineer who can communicate complex technical matters clearly and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. The ability to manage priorities, challenge assumptions constructively and deliver high-quality work in a regulated or safety-conscious environment is essential.
