We are seeking a Senior Security Operations Centre Engineer to help protect critical systems, services and information from an evolving range of cyber threats. This is a hands-on role for an experienced security professional who can provide technical leadership, investigate complex incidents and support the continuous improvement of security operations.
You will monitor and analyse alerts from security information and event management, endpoint detection and response, network monitoring and other security platforms. Responsibilities will include triaging and investigating suspected incidents, identifying indicators of compromise, performing root-cause analysis, coordinating containment and remediation activities, and producing clear incident reports. You will also support threat hunting, vulnerability investigations and the development of detection and response capabilities.
The role will involve maintaining and tuning security tools, creating and improving use cases, automating repetitive processes, and contributing to operational procedures, playbooks and service documentation. You will work closely with infrastructure, cloud, application and risk teams, providing expert advice and helping to embed secure and resilient ways of working. You may also act as an escalation point for less experienced analysts and contribute to an out-of-hours or on-call rota.
Applicants should have substantial experience in a security operations, incident response or engineering environment, together with a strong understanding of networking, operating systems, identity technologies, cloud platforms and common attack techniques. Experience with SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management and security orchestration tools is essential, as is the ability to interpret logs and analyse suspicious activity. Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, GIAC, Microsoft security certifications or equivalent practical experience, are desirable.
You will be a structured and confident communicator who can explain technical risks to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgement, attention to detail and a commitment to continual learning are essential. The successful candidate will be comfortable working under pressure, managing competing priorities and collaborating effectively in a fast-moving security environment.
