Hardware Security and Connectivity Engineer
We are seeking a Hardware Security and Connectivity Engineer to design, develop and validate secure hardware and connectivity solutions for next-generation products. This role will contribute across the full engineering lifecycle, from early concept and architecture through to implementation, testing, certification and production support.
You will define hardware security architectures, assess potential vulnerabilities and recommend effective mitigations. Responsibilities will include secure boot, trusted execution environments, hardware roots of trust, key storage, cryptographic accelerators, device identity and secure firmware update mechanisms. You will work closely with embedded software, systems, product assurance and manufacturing teams to ensure that security requirements are understood, traceable and delivered in the final product.
The role will also involve developing and integrating wired and wireless connectivity solutions, such as Ethernet, USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular or other relevant protocols. You will investigate communication issues, support board bring-up, review schematics and layouts, and use laboratory equipment to diagnose performance, interoperability and security problems. You will create test strategies and technical documentation, contribute to design reviews, and support compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Applicants should have professional experience in hardware security, embedded systems, connectivity engineering or a closely related discipline. A strong understanding of computer architecture, microcontrollers, digital electronics, cryptography and secure development principles is essential. Experience with security threat modelling, penetration testing, hardware debugging, protocol analysis and automated test development would be highly beneficial.
You should be comfortable working with tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, protocol analysers and software development or scripting environments. The ability to interpret technical specifications, assess third-party components and communicate complex risks clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues is important. A methodical approach, strong problem-solving skills and a genuine interest in emerging security and connectivity technologies are essential. This position may require eligibility to undergo appropriate background screening.
