SOC Analyst Level 2
We are seeking a skilled SOC Analyst Level 2 to join a security operations team responsible for monitoring, investigating and responding to cyber security threats across a complex technology environment. This role will suit an experienced security professional who can assess incidents confidently, work methodically under pressure and contribute to the continuous improvement of security monitoring and response processes.
You will analyse alerts from SIEM, endpoint detection and response, network monitoring and other security tools, distinguishing genuine threats from false positives. Your responsibilities will include investigating suspicious activity, validating indicators of compromise, conducting initial threat hunting and escalating confirmed or high-impact incidents in line with established procedures. You will also support containment, eradication and recovery activities, ensuring that all actions and findings are accurately recorded.
The role will involve creating and maintaining detailed incident records, producing clear investigation reports and communicating technical findings to both security specialists and non-technical stakeholders. You will contribute to post-incident reviews, identify recurring attack patterns and recommend improvements to detection rules, playbooks and operational controls. Participation in a rota, including out-of-hours or weekend cover, may be required.
Applicants should have practical experience in a security operations centre or a comparable incident response environment, together with a good understanding of networking, operating systems, authentication technologies and common cyber attack techniques. Experience using SIEM platforms, endpoint security solutions, ticketing systems and threat intelligence sources is essential. Knowledge of frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, the Cyber Kill Chain and recognised incident response practices would be advantageous.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required, along with excellent written and verbal communication. You should be able to prioritise competing incidents, work collaboratively and maintain a high level of attention to detail. Relevant qualifications such as Security+, CySA+, GCIH or equivalent professional experience are desirable. The successful candidate will be committed to ongoing learning and keeping up to date with emerging threats, vulnerabilities and defensive techniques.
