Junior SOC Analyst
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior SOC Analyst to join a security operations team responsible for monitoring, investigating and responding to cyber security events. This role would suit someone who is building a career in cyber security and is keen to develop practical experience within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
You will monitor security alerts and events using security information and event management (SIEM) tools, reviewing activity across networks, systems and applications. You will assist with the investigation and triage of suspected incidents, identify potential indicators of compromise, and escalate significant or complex matters in line with established procedures. The role will also involve documenting findings clearly, maintaining accurate incident records and supporting the preparation of security reports.
Key responsibilities include analysing logs and alerts, following incident response playbooks, conducting initial threat investigations and helping to assess vulnerabilities and emerging risks. You may also contribute to threat intelligence research, support security improvement projects and assist with the review and refinement of monitoring rules. A strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately is essential.
Applicants should have a genuine interest in cyber security, information technology or a related discipline. Some practical experience with SIEM platforms, endpoint protection tools, network monitoring or ticketing systems would be advantageous. Familiarity with common cyber threats, attack techniques, networking principles and operating systems is desirable, along with an understanding of incident response processes.
We are looking for someone analytical, curious and methodical, with good written and verbal communication skills. You should be comfortable working as part of a team, able to prioritise tasks under pressure and willing to work shifts where required. Relevant qualifications such as CompTIA Security+, a degree in cyber security or equivalent practical experience would be beneficial, although enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are equally important.
This position offers the opportunity to develop your technical skills, gain exposure to real-world security incidents and progress within a supportive cyber security environment. Appropriate training and mentoring will be provided to help you build confidence and advance your career.
