Cyber & Liability Catastrophe Modeller
We are seeking a Cyber & Liability Catastrophe Modeller to develop and enhance analytical tools that assess the potential impact of cyber events and liability exposures on insurance portfolios. Working across actuarial, underwriting, exposure management, claims and data teams, you will translate complex risk information into robust catastrophe modelling insights that support portfolio strategy, pricing, capital assessment and reinsurance decisions.
Your responsibilities will include building, maintaining and validating cyber and liability catastrophe models; analysing exposure, claims and event data; and developing scenarios for systemic, aggregated and emerging risks. You will investigate model assumptions, assess sensitivity to changing threat landscapes, and communicate the implications of model outputs to technical and non-technical stakeholders. The role will also involve supporting portfolio accumulation monitoring, preparing clear reports and presentations, contributing to model governance and documentation, and helping to improve data quality, automation and analytical processes. You may also represent the modelling function in internal working groups and engage with external data, technology and modelling partners.
We are looking for experience in catastrophe modelling, actuarial analysis, risk analytics, insurance, cyber risk or a closely related discipline. Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills are essential, together with the ability to work confidently with large and incomplete datasets. Experience using Python, R, SQL, Excel or similar analytical tools is highly desirable, as is familiarity with probabilistic modelling, simulation techniques, exposure management or insurance portfolio analysis. A degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, computer science, engineering or another numerate subject would be beneficial. You should be curious, detail-oriented and comfortable challenging assumptions, while also being able to explain technical findings clearly and collaborate effectively in a changing environment. Knowledge of cyber threats, technology risk, professional liability or casualty insurance would be an advantage, but a willingness to learn and develop in these areas is equally valued.
