Cyber Security Engineer - Cyber & Autonomous Systems Team
We are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join a specialist Cyber & Autonomous Systems team working on the security of advanced, software-enabled and autonomous capabilities. In this role, you will help protect complex systems throughout their lifecycle, from early concept and design through development, integration, testing, deployment and ongoing support. You will work closely with engineering, software, systems, operational and assurance teams to identify cyber risks and develop practical, proportionate security solutions.
Your responsibilities will include conducting threat modelling, vulnerability assessments and security risk analyses; defining and reviewing security requirements; contributing to secure-by-design architectures; and supporting the implementation of controls across networks, applications, embedded systems and cloud or edge environments. You will investigate security weaknesses, coordinate remediation activities and provide clear technical advice to stakeholders. The role may also involve security testing, incident investigation, supporting accreditation or assurance activities, maintaining risk documentation, and monitoring developments in cyber threats, autonomous technologies and relevant standards. You will be expected to communicate complex technical issues clearly and contribute to the continuous improvement of security processes, tools and engineering practices.
We are looking for experience in cyber security engineering, systems security, application security, network defence, vulnerability management or a related discipline. You should have a sound understanding of security principles, risk management, secure development practices, identity and access management, encryption and security monitoring. Experience with autonomous, safety-critical, embedded, operational technology or mission-critical systems would be advantageous, as would familiarity with recognised security frameworks and standards. Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills are essential, together with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage priorities in a changing environment. Relevant professional certifications or a degree in cyber security, computer science, engineering or a related subject are desirable. This is an opportunity to contribute to challenging projects where robust cyber security is central to the safe and reliable operation of advanced systems.
