Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Proxy/SSE Network Security
We are seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer specialising in proxy and Security Service Edge (SSE) technologies to design, implement and lead the operation of secure, resilient network security services. You will provide technical direction across proxy, secure web gateway, cloud access security broker, zero trust network access and related SSE capabilities, ensuring that internet and private application access is protected, performant and aligned with business requirements. The role will involve developing target architectures, setting engineering standards and guiding the transition from traditional perimeter controls to modern, cloud-delivered security services.
You will lead the delivery of complex infrastructure and security initiatives, including platform deployment, configuration, integration, upgrades, automation and operational improvement. Responsibilities include managing traffic inspection and filtering policies, authentication and identity integrations, certificate services, DNS and routing dependencies, logging, monitoring and incident response. You will troubleshoot high-impact technical issues, coordinate with network, cloud, endpoint, identity and security operations teams, and work with suppliers where required. You will also create technical documentation, operating procedures and resilience plans, while mentoring engineers and promoting consistent engineering practices. A strong focus on availability, performance, security, scalability and regulatory compliance is essential.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience designing and supporting enterprise proxy, secure web gateway or SSE environments, together with a strong understanding of networking principles including HTTP/S, TLS, TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls and load balancing. Experience with cloud platforms, identity providers, endpoint security, traffic steering, policy management and infrastructure-as-code or scripting is highly desirable. You should be comfortable leading technical decisions, managing competing priorities and communicating complex subjects to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Relevant industry certifications in networking, cloud or cyber security would be advantageous. The position requires a proactive, analytical engineer who can operate effectively during incidents while also delivering long-term improvements to security architecture and service reliability.
