Network Security Infrastructure Engineer, Network Traffic Management
We are seeking a Network Security Infrastructure Engineer specialising in Network Traffic Management to design, implement and maintain secure, resilient and high-performing network services. The role will focus on the infrastructure that controls, inspects and routes traffic across enterprise, data centre, cloud and remote-access environments. You will work closely with network, security, infrastructure and application teams to ensure that services are protected, available and aligned with operational and security requirements.
Key responsibilities include administering and improving firewalls, load balancers, web application firewalls, proxy platforms, intrusion prevention technologies and related traffic-management services. You will develop and maintain security policies, access rules, traffic flows, routing configurations and network segmentation controls, ensuring that changes are documented, tested and implemented through appropriate governance processes. The role will also involve monitoring performance and security events, investigating incidents, troubleshooting complex connectivity issues, supporting vulnerability remediation, and contributing to capacity planning, resilience testing and disaster recovery activities. You will help automate repetitive tasks, improve operational procedures and produce clear technical documentation and reporting.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience supporting network security infrastructure in a complex enterprise environment, with strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VPNs, TLS, HTTP and common network-security principles. Practical experience with enterprise firewalls, application delivery controllers, reverse proxies, traffic inspection tools and cloud networking is required. Familiarity with automation or scripting, such as Python, PowerShell or Ansible, would be advantageous, as would experience with high-availability architectures, infrastructure monitoring and IT service-management practices. You should be analytical, methodical and able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Relevant professional certifications in networking, cybersecurity or cloud technologies are desirable. This role may require participation in an out-of-hours support or on-call rota.
