Security Consultant - Incident Response Analyst
We are seeking a Security Consultant – Incident Response Analyst to help organisations prepare for, respond to and recover from complex cyber security incidents. This role will suit an experienced incident responder who can combine strong technical investigation skills with clear communication, sound judgement and a professional, client-focused approach.
You will lead and support investigations into suspected and confirmed incidents, including malware infections, ransomware, credential compromise, phishing, insider threats and unauthorised access. Your responsibilities will include collecting and analysing digital evidence, reviewing endpoint, network and cloud data, identifying attack vectors, assessing impact and developing accurate incident timelines. You will also provide practical recommendations to contain threats, eradicate malicious activity and restore affected services safely.
The role will involve working closely with clients and internal stakeholders during high-pressure situations. You will prepare investigation reports, executive briefings and technical findings, explaining complex issues in a concise and understandable manner. You may also contribute to incident response planning, tabletop exercises, readiness assessments, playbook development and post-incident reviews, helping clients strengthen their overall security resilience.
Applicants should have demonstrable experience in cyber security incident response, digital forensics, security operations or a closely related discipline. You will need a strong understanding of attack techniques, threat intelligence, Windows and Linux environments, identity and access management, and network security principles. Experience with SIEM, EDR, forensic, cloud security or case management platforms is highly desirable, as is familiarity with frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST or ISO 27001.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential, alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should be comfortable managing competing priorities, working independently and collaborating effectively with technical and non-technical audiences. Relevant professional qualifications or certifications, such as GIAC, CREST, CISSP or equivalent practical experience, would be advantageous. A willingness to participate in an on-call or out-of-hours incident response rota may also be required.
