Privacy Advisor
We are seeking an experienced Privacy Advisor to provide practical, high-quality guidance on data protection, privacy and information governance matters. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team and support the responsible use of personal information across a varied range of services, projects and business activities.
You will advise colleagues and stakeholders on the application of relevant privacy legislation, regulatory guidance and internal policies. Your responsibilities will include providing advice on data protection impact assessments, records of processing activities, privacy notices, information-sharing arrangements, data retention and the management of individual rights requests. You will also help assess and manage privacy risks, ensuring that appropriate controls are identified, documented and implemented.
The role will involve reviewing and supporting contracts, supplier arrangements and other agreements that involve the processing or sharing of personal data. You will contribute to privacy reviews for new products, systems and processes, helping teams adopt privacy by design and data minimisation principles. You may also assist with the investigation and reporting of personal data breaches, including coordinating actions, maintaining accurate records and identifying lessons for improvement.
We are looking for someone with solid knowledge of UK data protection requirements, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, together with an understanding of information security and wider information governance principles. Relevant professional experience in a privacy, compliance, legal or information governance environment is essential. A recognised privacy or data protection qualification, such as CIPP/E, CIPM or an equivalent, would be advantageous.
You will be confident interpreting complex requirements and explaining them clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing demands are important. You should be comfortable working independently while building effective relationships across different teams and levels of seniority.
This role offers the chance to make a meaningful contribution to good privacy practice, supporting a culture in which personal information is handled lawfully, transparently and respectfully.
