An opportunity has arisen for a Security Monitoring Analyst to join a busy security operations function on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will support the continuous monitoring, investigation and response to security events, helping to protect systems, networks and data from evolving cyber threats.

You will monitor alerts from security information and event management (SIEM), endpoint protection, network monitoring and other security technologies. Responsibilities will include triaging and investigating suspicious activity, assessing potential impact, escalating incidents in line with agreed procedures and maintaining accurate records throughout the incident lifecycle.

The role will involve reviewing logs and event data, identifying indicators of compromise, supporting containment and remediation activities, and contributing to post-incident reviews. You will also assist with vulnerability and threat monitoring, produce clear reports for relevant stakeholders, and help improve detection rules, response playbooks and operational processes.

Applicants should have experience in a security operations, cyber monitoring or incident response environment, with a practical understanding of common attack techniques, security controls and incident management principles. Familiarity with SIEM platforms, endpoint detection and response tools, firewalls, intrusion detection systems and ticketing workflows is desirable.

You will be analytical, methodical and confident working under pressure, with the ability to prioritise multiple alerts and communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues. A strong investigative mindset, attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality are essential. Relevant industry certifications or qualifications in cyber security, networking or information technology would be advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity for a security professional to contribute to a collaborative monitoring function and gain exposure to a broad range of technologies, threats and response activities. The role may require participation in an out-of-hours or on-call rota, subject to operational requirements.
