We are seeking a Senior Security Monitoring and Response Analyst to strengthen a busy cyber security operations function. This role will lead the detection, investigation and response to security incidents, helping to protect critical systems, services and information across a complex technology environment.
You will monitor security alerts and events using security information and event management (SIEM), endpoint detection and response, network monitoring and other security tools. You will assess potential threats, investigate suspicious activity, determine impact and coordinate appropriate containment, eradication and recovery actions. The role will also involve providing expert guidance to analysts, supporting incident escalation and ensuring that investigations are accurately documented from initial alert through to closure.
Key responsibilities will include developing and improving detection use cases, tuning alerting rules, analysing logs and threat intelligence, conducting incident reviews and identifying opportunities to strengthen controls. You will contribute to vulnerability and threat-led investigations, produce clear technical and management reports, and support the development of playbooks, procedures and operational standards. You may also assist with major incident exercises, forensic activities and out-of-hours response arrangements.
Applicants should have substantial experience in security monitoring, incident response or a related cyber security operations role. You will have strong knowledge of common attack techniques, security principles, network protocols, identity and access management, endpoint security and cloud technologies. Practical experience with SIEM platforms, EDR solutions, threat intelligence and investigation tools is essential, along with the ability to interpret complex technical data and make sound decisions under pressure.
Relevant professional certifications, such as those focused on security operations, incident handling or threat analysis, would be advantageous. Excellent communication skills are required, including the ability to explain technical risks to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. You should be analytical, collaborative and organised, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.
This is an opportunity to play a senior role in a capable security team, helping to improve resilience, mature response processes and reduce cyber risk across the organisation.
