An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Cyber Security Manager to lead and develop security capability within a complex, technology-driven environment in Leeds. This role will be responsible for protecting critical systems, data and services, while supporting business objectives through effective risk management and practical security guidance.
You will set and deliver the cyber security strategy, ensuring that appropriate policies, standards and controls are established, maintained and continuously improved. Working closely with technology, risk, compliance and operational teams, you will identify vulnerabilities, assess threats and oversee mitigation plans. You will also provide clear advice to senior stakeholders, helping to embed security across projects, products and day-to-day operations.
Key responsibilities will include managing security monitoring and incident response activities, coordinating investigations and ensuring lessons are captured and implemented. You will oversee vulnerability management, security testing, access controls and third-party assurance, as well as supporting disaster recovery and business continuity planning. The role will also involve maintaining security documentation, producing meaningful management information and preparing for audits against relevant legislation, regulations and recognised industry frameworks.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in a cyber security leadership or management position, with a strong understanding of information security principles, governance, risk and compliance. You will be confident managing incidents and security improvement programmes, and will ideally hold a relevant professional qualification such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC or ISO 27001 Lead Implementer. Experience with cloud security, identity and access management, security operations and supplier risk would be advantageous.
Excellent communication and influencing skills are essential, along with the ability to explain complex technical risks to non-technical audiences. You will be organised, commercially aware and comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands-on problem solving. In return, you will have the opportunity to shape a mature security function, work with talented colleagues and make a visible contribution to the resilience and protection of essential services.
