We are seeking a Staff Cloud Security Engineer to help design, build and continuously improve secure cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This is a senior technical role for someone who can set security direction, solve complex engineering problems and influence teams across the organisation. You will work closely with platform, software engineering, infrastructure and risk colleagues to embed security into cloud architecture, development workflows and operational practices.

Your responsibilities will include defining and maintaining GCP security standards, reference architectures and guardrails; designing controls for identity and access management, network security, data protection, secrets management, logging and monitoring; and reviewing cloud architectures for security, resilience and regulatory alignment. You will help establish secure-by-default patterns using infrastructure as code, automate security controls and compliance checks, and improve detection and response capabilities across cloud environments. You will also investigate complex security issues, contribute to threat modelling and incident response, and provide clear, practical guidance to engineering teams. As a staff-level engineer, you will mentor colleagues, lead technical initiatives and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You should have substantial experience securing production workloads on GCP and a strong understanding of services such as IAM, VPC, Cloud KMS, Security Command Center, Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring and Google Kubernetes Engine. Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools, CI/CD security, container security, scripting and security automation is expected. You will bring knowledge of cloud security frameworks, threat modelling, vulnerability management and secure software development, together with the ability to balance robust controls with delivery speed. Relevant professional certifications, such as Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer, CISSP or equivalent, are welcome. Above all, you will be a pragmatic, curious and collaborative engineer who can influence through technical credibility and deliver measurable improvements in cloud security.
