Staff Security Operations Engineer
We are seeking a Staff Security Operations Engineer to provide technical leadership across the design, operation and continual improvement of security monitoring and incident response capabilities. You will work closely with engineering, infrastructure and product teams to protect critical systems, investigate complex threats and strengthen the organisation’s overall security posture.
You will lead the development and optimisation of security operations processes, including detection engineering, alert triage, threat hunting, incident response and post-incident analysis. You will create and maintain high-quality detection rules, playbooks and automation, ensuring that security signals are meaningful, actionable and aligned with current threat intelligence. The role will also involve investigating sophisticated incidents, coordinating response activities and communicating technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
As a senior technical contributor, you will help define operational standards, mentor security engineers and promote consistent, scalable ways of working. You will assess emerging threats and technologies, identify gaps in existing controls and recommend practical improvements across cloud, endpoint, identity and network environments. You may also contribute to security architecture reviews, vulnerability management and the development of metrics that demonstrate the effectiveness of security operations.
You will bring substantial experience in security operations, incident response or detection engineering, with a strong understanding of security monitoring platforms, SIEM technologies, endpoint detection and response, cloud security and threat intelligence. Practical experience writing queries, developing detections and automating investigative workflows is essential. Familiarity with common attack frameworks, digital forensics and scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell would be highly beneficial.
We are looking for an analytical and collaborative professional who can operate calmly during high-priority incidents, make sound risk-based decisions and influence teams without relying on formal authority. You should be comfortable working independently, explaining complex security issues clearly and balancing immediate operational needs with long-term improvements. Relevant industry certifications or equivalent practical experience are welcome.
