Cyber Defence Manager

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Defence Manager to lead the development and delivery of effective cyber security defence capabilities. This role will be responsible for protecting critical systems, networks and information assets against evolving threats, while ensuring that security operations support organisational priorities and regulatory obligations. You will provide technical leadership across cyber defence, incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management and security monitoring.

Key responsibilities will include managing and continually improving security operations processes, controls and technologies; overseeing the identification, investigation and response to cyber incidents; and coordinating containment, recovery and post-incident improvement activities. You will lead the assessment and prioritisation of vulnerabilities, ensure appropriate remediation plans are implemented, and use threat intelligence to strengthen defensive measures. The role will also involve developing meaningful security metrics and reports, supporting risk assessments and assurance activity, and working closely with technology, risk, compliance and business stakeholders. You will be expected to promote a strong security culture, contribute to policies and standards, and support the planning and testing of cyber exercises and business continuity arrangements.

Applicants should have substantial experience in cyber security operations, cyber defence or a closely related discipline, including leadership of incident response and security monitoring activities. Strong knowledge of security frameworks, threat detection techniques, vulnerability management, identity and access management, and cloud or enterprise infrastructure security is required. Experience with security information and event management, endpoint detection and response, security orchestration or similar technologies would be advantageous. Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC or equivalent are desirable. You will need excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills, the ability to make sound decisions under pressure, and a proven record of delivering improvements in complex environments.
