Principal Consultant - Security Architect
We are seeking an experienced Principal Consultant – Security Architect to provide strategic security leadership across complex technology and transformation programmes. This is a senior role for a technically credible professional who can translate business objectives and emerging threats into practical, resilient security solutions.
You will lead the design and delivery of security architectures across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments. Working closely with senior stakeholders, delivery teams and technical specialists, you will define security strategies, principles, reference architectures and roadmaps that support secure business change. You will also assess existing environments, identify risks and recommend proportionate improvements.
Key responsibilities will include providing expert advice on identity and access management, network security, application security, data protection, infrastructure security and cloud platforms. You will contribute to security patterns and standards, review proposed designs, support risk assessments and ensure that solutions align with relevant legislation, regulatory expectations and industry good practice.
As a principal-level consultant, you will lead client engagements, facilitate workshops and communicate complex technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will be expected to challenge constructively, influence decision-making and mentor colleagues, while contributing to the development of consulting methods, reusable assets and thought leadership.
You will bring substantial experience in security architecture or a closely related discipline, with a strong understanding of enterprise security principles and architecture frameworks. Experience of designing secure solutions within cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services, would be advantageous. Familiarity with zero trust, threat modelling, security operations, governance, risk and compliance is also desirable.
Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, SABSA, TOGAF, CCSP or equivalent, are welcomed. You should possess excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills, alongside the confidence to work independently and manage competing priorities. The role may involve occasional travel and engagement with varied technical and business communities.
