We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Specialist - L3 to provide advanced technical expertise across security operations, incident response and the protection of critical systems. This role will investigate complex security events, lead the resolution of high-severity incidents and help strengthen the organisation’s overall security posture.

You will monitor and analyse alerts from security information and event management platforms, endpoint detection tools, network controls and cloud environments. Responsibilities will include conducting detailed threat investigations, performing malware and forensic analysis, identifying indicators of compromise, and coordinating containment, eradication and recovery activities. You will also contribute to the development and refinement of incident response procedures, playbooks and escalation processes.

The successful candidate will undertake proactive threat hunting, vulnerability assessment and security monitoring improvements. You will assess emerging threats, recommend appropriate controls and support the implementation of security measures across infrastructure, applications, endpoints and cloud services. The role will involve producing clear technical reports, maintaining accurate case records and presenting findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You should have substantial experience in a senior cyber security or security operations role, with a strong understanding of incident response, threat detection and security engineering principles. Experience with SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management, intrusion detection and cloud security technologies is essential. Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001 or CIS Controls would be advantageous.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required, together with the ability to remain calm and decisive during high-impact incidents. You will be expected to work collaboratively, communicate complex issues clearly and provide technical guidance to less experienced colleagues. Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, GIAC, CREST, Microsoft Security or equivalent, would be desirable.

This position may require participation in an out-of-hours support or incident response rota. In return, it offers the opportunity to work on challenging security issues, influence defensive capabilities and contribute to a mature, proactive cyber security function.
