This role will support the development and maintenance of effective security controls, contribute to risk reduction, and promote secure working practices across the organisation. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with technical teams, business stakeholders and external partners to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen the overall security posture.

Key responsibilities will include monitoring security alerts and events, investigating suspected incidents, supporting incident response activities and documenting findings clearly. You will conduct vulnerability assessments, contribute to remediation planning and help maintain security policies, procedures and technical standards. The role will also involve assisting with security reviews of infrastructure, cloud services, applications and third-party suppliers, as well as supporting access control, identity management and data protection requirements.

You will help deliver security awareness initiatives, provide practical advice to colleagues and contribute to audits, compliance activities and risk assessments. Keeping informed about emerging threats, relevant legislation and industry best practice will be essential. You may also support the development of reports and metrics for senior stakeholders, ensuring that security risks, actions and trends are communicated effectively.

Applicants should have experience in a cyber security, information security or related technical role, with a sound understanding of common threats, vulnerabilities and defensive measures. Familiarity with security monitoring tools, vulnerability management, firewalls, endpoint protection, authentication technologies and cloud security is desirable. Knowledge of recognised frameworks and standards, such as ISO 27001, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework or Cyber Essentials, would be advantageous.

We are looking for someone analytical, organised and confident in communicating technical information to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. Relevant professional qualifications or certifications are welcome, although practical experience and a willingness to develop will also be valued. The role offers the opportunity to work on varied security challenges, build specialist expertise and make a meaningful contribution to the protection of critical information and services.
