Investigative Researcher, Cyber Threat Intelligence
Investigative Researcher, Cyber Threat Intelligence
An opportunity is available for an inquisitive and analytical researcher to investigate cyber threats, uncover emerging risks and produce intelligence that supports informed decision-making. You will examine a wide range of information sources to identify relevant activity, assess credibility and develop clear, evidence-based assessments for technical and non-technical audiences.
Your responsibilities will include monitoring open-source intelligence, dark web activity, threat actor communications, security research and wider geopolitical or criminal developments. You will investigate cyber incidents, campaigns and threat groups, identifying connections, patterns, indicators of compromise and potential intent. You will also contribute to horizon scanning, tracking developments across the threat landscape and highlighting issues that may affect people, systems or operations.
You will be expected to gather, validate and analyse information from multiple sources, maintain accurate research records and communicate findings through concise written reports, briefings and presentations. The role will involve collaborating with analysts, technical specialists and other stakeholders, translating complex or uncertain information into practical insight. You may also support the development of research methodologies, intelligence products, monitoring processes and knowledge repositories.
The successful candidate will have experience in investigative research, cyber threat intelligence, journalism, security analysis, law enforcement, national security or a related discipline. You should be confident evaluating source reliability, corroborating information and working methodically with incomplete or conflicting data. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, alongside sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to explain findings clearly.
Familiarity with cyber threat actors, tactics, techniques and procedures, online investigations, digital communities and relevant intelligence frameworks would be advantageous. Experience using research, analytical or data visualisation tools is welcome, as is knowledge of foreign languages or regional expertise. You must be comfortable handling sensitive material responsibly, working independently and managing competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
