SecOps Engineer
We are seeking a skilled SecOps Engineer to help protect a complex technology environment and strengthen the organisation’s security operations. You will work across security, infrastructure and development teams to identify threats, improve resilience and ensure that security controls are effective, proportionate and aligned with business needs.
Your responsibilities will include monitoring and investigating security alerts, responding to incidents and supporting the full incident management lifecycle. You will analyse logs and security telemetry, conduct initial triage, contain threats and contribute to post-incident reviews. You will also help maintain clear documentation, playbooks and technical reports, ensuring that lessons learned are translated into practical improvements.
You will support the configuration and ongoing improvement of security tooling, including SIEM, endpoint detection and response, vulnerability management, identity and access management, cloud security and network monitoring platforms. The role will involve developing detection rules, tuning alerts, reducing false positives and identifying opportunities to automate repetitive operational tasks.
The successful candidate will have commercial experience in a security operations, incident response or infrastructure security role. You should have a sound understanding of common attack techniques, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, network protocols, endpoint security and cloud environments. Experience using SIEM and EDR technologies, investigating suspicious activity and working with scripting or automation tools such as Python or PowerShell would be highly beneficial.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues. You will be comfortable working methodically under pressure, managing competing priorities and participating in an on-call or out-of-hours support rota where required. Relevant certifications or demonstrable equivalent experience, such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CISSP or vendor-specific security qualifications, would be advantageous.
This is an opportunity to make a direct contribution to the organisation’s cyber resilience while developing your expertise in modern security operations. Flexible working arrangements may be available, subject to operational requirements.
