Vulnerability Management Lead
We are seeking an experienced Vulnerability Management Lead to oversee the identification, assessment and remediation of security vulnerabilities across a complex technology estate. This is a key role within the cyber security function, providing technical leadership and helping to strengthen resilience against emerging threats.
You will develop and manage the vulnerability management programme, establishing effective processes for vulnerability discovery, risk assessment, prioritisation and remediation. Working closely with infrastructure, cloud, application development and operational teams, you will ensure that vulnerabilities are addressed within agreed service levels and that risk-based decisions are clearly documented.
Your responsibilities will include leading vulnerability scanning and assessment activities across networks, endpoints, applications, cloud environments and third-party services. You will analyse findings, validate results, reduce false positives and produce meaningful management information for technical and senior stakeholders. You will also maintain vulnerability metrics, dashboards and reporting, highlighting trends, areas of concern and opportunities for improvement.
As the subject matter expert, you will provide guidance on remediation, support security investigations and contribute to vulnerability-related incident response. You will help define policies, standards and operating procedures, while continually improving tooling, workflows and automation. The role will also involve supporting audit and regulatory requirements, coordinating penetration testing activity and managing relationships with relevant suppliers.
We are looking for someone with substantial experience in vulnerability management or a closely related cyber security discipline, together with strong knowledge of vulnerability assessment methodologies, risk frameworks and remediation practices. Experience with enterprise scanning and security platforms, cloud technologies, patch management and common vulnerability scoring is essential. Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, OSCP or equivalent, would be advantageous.
You will be a confident communicator who can explain technical risk clearly to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. Strong analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills are required, along with the ability to influence delivery teams and manage competing priorities. In return, you will have the opportunity to shape a developing security capability and make a tangible contribution to the organisation’s cyber resilience.
