Cyber Security Engineer (Vulnerability Management)
We are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer specialising in Vulnerability Management to help identify, assess and reduce security risks across a complex technology environment. You will be responsible for operating and improving vulnerability management processes, ensuring that weaknesses in infrastructure, applications, cloud services and endpoints are detected, prioritised and remediated effectively. Working closely with security, infrastructure, application development and operational teams, you will provide practical guidance that strengthens the organisation’s overall security posture.
Key responsibilities will include configuring and maintaining vulnerability scanning tools; planning and executing authenticated and unauthenticated scans; validating findings; and analysing results to distinguish genuine risks from false positives. You will assess vulnerabilities using factors such as exploitability, business impact, asset criticality and threat intelligence, then produce clear reports and dashboards for technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will track remediation activity, challenge overdue actions, support exception and risk-acceptance processes, and provide advice on suitable compensating controls. The role will also involve contributing to vulnerability management standards, procedures, metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will have practical experience in vulnerability management, security engineering or a closely related cyber security discipline, together with a good understanding of common vulnerabilities, CVSS, remediation techniques and secure configuration principles. Experience with enterprise vulnerability management platforms, asset discovery, patch management, cloud environments and scripting or automation would be highly beneficial. You should be comfortable investigating technical findings, communicating risk clearly and collaborating with teams at all levels. A methodical approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential. Relevant certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISM, GIAC or comparable professional experience are desirable. You will be expected to promote secure working practices, maintain accurate records and contribute positively to a collaborative, service-focused security function.
