Security Engineer (Contractor)
We are seeking a Security Engineer (Contractor) to help protect enterprise systems, applications, networks, and data across a dynamic technology environment. The successful candidate will work closely with infrastructure, software development, operations, and risk teams to identify security weaknesses, implement effective controls, and support the continuous improvement of security practices. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced professional who can operate independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include monitoring and investigating security events, supporting incident response activities, and conducting vulnerability assessments across infrastructure, cloud services, endpoints, and applications. You will help design and implement security solutions, review system and network configurations, contribute to access-control and identity-management initiatives, and assist with security testing and remediation tracking. The role will also involve maintaining technical documentation, developing recommendations based on risk assessments, supporting audit and compliance requirements, and contributing to security standards, procedures, and awareness activities. You may also be asked to evaluate new technologies, advise on secure architecture, and provide practical guidance to engineering and delivery teams.
Applicants should have demonstrable experience in a security engineering, infrastructure security, or related technical role, with strong knowledge of network security, operating systems, cloud platforms, vulnerability management, authentication, encryption, and security monitoring tools. Experience with SIEM platforms, endpoint protection, firewalls, intrusion detection, scripting, and incident response is highly desirable. Relevant professional certifications or equivalent practical experience will be welcomed. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are essential, as is the ability to document findings and explain complex issues in a concise, accessible manner. The contractor must be organised, collaborative, security-minded, and comfortable working within defined delivery timelines while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
