Junior Data Protection Consultant
We are seeking a motivated Junior Data Protection Consultant to support organisations in managing privacy risks and meeting data protection obligations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who is interested in privacy, information governance, compliance, and technology. You will work with experienced consultants and client teams to help assess current practices, identify areas for improvement, and develop practical, risk-based solutions.
Your responsibilities will include supporting data protection impact assessments, records of processing activities, legitimate interest assessments, data mapping exercises, and privacy reviews. You will help monitor compliance with relevant legislation and guidance, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, and assist with preparing clear reports, recommendations, policies, procedures, and client-facing materials. You may also support the review of data processing agreements, privacy notices, retention schedules, and third-party arrangements. The role will involve gathering and analysing information, maintaining accurate records, tracking actions, contributing to project planning, and helping deliver privacy awareness sessions or training. You will be expected to communicate clearly with stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and escalate issues appropriately.
Applicants should have a strong interest in data protection and information governance, together with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Some knowledge of UK or European data protection principles is desirable, whether gained through study, work experience, professional training, or a recognised qualification. You should be organised, analytical, detail-oriented, and confident using common office and collaboration software. The ability to interpret requirements, ask thoughtful questions, work collaboratively, and explain technical or regulatory topics in straightforward language is essential. Previous experience in compliance, audit, risk, legal services, information security, or consulting would be beneficial but is not required. Training, mentoring, and opportunities for professional development will be provided to help you build a successful career in data protection consulting.
