Business Information Security Officer, Dental & Care Services
We are seeking a Business Information Security Officer to support the secure delivery of dental and care services across a complex, people-focused environment. This role will provide practical information security guidance to business leaders, operational teams and technology colleagues, helping to protect sensitive patient, client, employee and business information while enabling effective service delivery. You will act as a trusted adviser, translating security requirements into clear, proportionate and achievable actions.
Your responsibilities will include maintaining and improving information security policies, standards, procedures and controls; supporting risk assessments, business impact assessments and security reviews; and advising on the secure design and implementation of systems, applications, suppliers and operational processes. You will monitor compliance with relevant legislation, contractual obligations and recognised security frameworks, contributing to audit activity and remediation planning. The role will also support the management and investigation of information security incidents, ensuring that issues are recorded, escalated, communicated and resolved appropriately. You will help develop security awareness and training programmes, promoting good information-handling practices across dental and care teams.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in information security, risk management, governance or a closely related discipline, ideally within healthcare, social care, professional services or another regulated environment. You should understand data protection principles, access management, incident response, vulnerability management, third-party risk and secure change practices. Experience working with frameworks such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, NIST or equivalent would be advantageous. Strong communication and influencing skills are essential, along with the ability to explain technical and regulatory matters to non-specialists. You will be organised, analytical and pragmatic, able to manage competing priorities, build effective relationships and promote continuous improvement. Relevant professional qualifications or certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, ISO 27001, CRISC or equivalent experience, would be desirable.
