Principal IAM Consultant, Identity Governance and Data Access
We are seeking a Principal IAM Consultant specialising in Identity Governance and Data Access to lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of enterprise identity and access management capabilities. This is a senior advisory role for an experienced professional who can translate business, regulatory and security requirements into practical, scalable solutions. You will work with technology, risk, compliance, data and business stakeholders to strengthen access controls, improve governance and support secure digital transformation across complex environments.
Your responsibilities will include defining IAM and identity governance strategies; developing target operating models, standards, policies and control frameworks; and leading initiatives covering joiner, mover and leaver processes, access requests, approvals, certifications, segregation of duties, privileged access and role-based access control. You will assess data access risks, advise on appropriate entitlement models, and help establish effective ownership for applications, platforms, data domains and critical business processes. The role will also involve conducting maturity assessments, identifying control gaps, preparing remediation roadmaps, and overseeing delivery with internal teams and technology partners. You will provide thought leadership, challenge existing approaches and communicate complex security matters clearly to senior stakeholders.
Applicants should have substantial experience in IAM, identity governance, access management or information security within large, complex organisations. Strong knowledge of IAM principles, access certification, RBAC or ABAC, least-privilege design, segregation of duties and data access governance is essential. Experience with leading IAM or IGA platforms, directory services, cloud identity, privileged access management and integration patterns would be highly valued. You should be comfortable working across architecture, risk, audit and delivery functions, with a proven ability to manage competing priorities and influence without direct authority. Excellent analytical, documentation, communication and stakeholder management skills are required. Relevant professional certifications in information security, privacy, risk or identity management are desirable, together with a pragmatic, collaborative approach and a commitment to delivering measurable improvements in security and user experience.
