Cyber Security Consultant - Threat Management (UK Public Sector)
We are seeking a Cyber Security Consultant specialising in Threat Management to support the protection of critical services across the UK public sector. This role will help organisations understand, assess and respond to evolving cyber threats, working with security teams, technical specialists and senior stakeholders to strengthen resilience and reduce risk. You will contribute to the delivery of pragmatic, risk-based security advice in complex and highly regulated environments.
Your responsibilities will include conducting threat assessments, analysing threat intelligence and identifying vulnerabilities, attack paths and potential business impacts. You will develop threat models, security recommendations and response strategies, and support the creation and continual improvement of threat management processes, policies and playbooks. You may also be involved in security architecture reviews, incident response exercises, risk assessments and the production of clear technical and executive-level reports. The role requires you to translate complex security issues into practical actions and communicate confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.
We are looking for experience in cyber security consulting, threat management, threat intelligence, incident response or a closely related discipline. You should have a sound understanding of common attack techniques, adversary tactics and security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST or ISO 27001, together with knowledge of governance, risk and compliance principles. Experience working with public sector, government or similarly regulated organisations would be beneficial. Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines. Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CREST or equivalent, are desirable. Due to the nature of the work, applicants may be required to undergo appropriate national security vetting.
