Cyber Essentials Plus Assessor
We are seeking a Cyber Essentials Plus Assessor to conduct thorough, independent assessments of organisations against the Cyber Essentials Plus scheme. This role involves evaluating technical controls, identifying weaknesses and providing clear, practical guidance to help clients strengthen their cyber security posture.
You will plan and deliver assessments across a range of environments, reviewing areas such as firewalls, secure configuration, software updates, malware protection, user access controls and device security. Responsibilities will include gathering evidence, conducting remote and on-site technical testing, validating findings, documenting results and producing accurate assessment reports within agreed timescales.
The successful candidate will communicate confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders, explain risks in an accessible manner and support clients throughout the assessment process. You will maintain detailed records, manage competing priorities and ensure all work is completed in line with the latest Cyber Essentials Plus requirements, assessment standards and quality procedures. The role may also involve contributing to internal knowledge sharing and keeping current with changes in cyber security threats, technologies and best practice.
Applicants should have practical experience in cyber security, information assurance, infrastructure support, penetration testing or a closely related discipline, together with a sound understanding of the Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus frameworks. Experience assessing Windows and Linux systems, network devices, cloud services, mobile devices and common security controls would be advantageous.
You will need excellent analytical and report-writing skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while managing client relationships professionally. Relevant certifications, such as CREST, CHECK, CompTIA Security+, Cyber Essentials Assessor or equivalent industry qualifications, are desirable. A commitment to continuing professional development is expected.
This opportunity offers varied client work, professional development and the chance to make a measurable contribution to improving cyber resilience. Occasional travel and flexible working may be required, and successful candidates may be subject to appropriate background screening.
