Security Consulting Practitioner
We are seeking a Security Consulting Practitioner to support clients in identifying, managing and reducing information and cyber security risks. This is an opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of assignments, helping organisations strengthen their security capabilities, protect critical information and respond effectively to an evolving threat landscape.
You will contribute to the delivery of security assessments, risk reviews and advisory engagements. Your responsibilities will include gathering and analysing client requirements, reviewing existing controls, identifying vulnerabilities and developing practical recommendations. You may also support security strategy and policy development, governance reviews, regulatory compliance assessments, resilience planning and the implementation of recognised security frameworks.
The role involves working closely with clients and internal teams to understand business objectives and translate technical or regulatory requirements into clear, achievable actions. You will prepare high-quality reports, presentations and working papers, communicate findings to stakeholders at different levels and help clients prioritise improvements according to risk, cost and business impact. Depending on experience, you may also assist with project planning, proposal development, workshops and the mentoring of less experienced colleagues.
Applicants should have experience in information security, cyber security, risk management, technology assurance or a related consulting environment. A sound understanding of security principles, governance, risk and compliance is essential, alongside the ability to assess controls and communicate recommendations clearly. Familiarity with standards and frameworks such as ISO 27001, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, the CIS Controls or relevant data protection requirements would be advantageous.
You will be analytical, organised and comfortable managing competing priorities in a client-facing setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, together with sound judgement, attention to detail and a collaborative approach. Professional security or audit qualifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor, or relevant practical experience, would be welcomed.
