Senior Software Engineer (DevSecOps & Autonomy)
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (DevSecOps & Autonomy) to design, develop and maintain secure, resilient software for advanced autonomous systems. This role will suit an experienced engineer who enjoys working across software engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity and real-time systems, and who can translate complex operational needs into dependable technical solutions.
You will lead the delivery of software throughout its lifecycle, from technical design and prototyping through to integration, verification, deployment and ongoing support. Responsibilities will include developing robust applications and services, improving development and deployment pipelines, automating testing and infrastructure, and embedding security controls into every stage of the software development process. You will also contribute to the design of autonomy capabilities, including perception, decision-making, mission planning, control or systems integration.
Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will investigate technical challenges, identify and manage risks, review code and architecture, and promote consistent engineering standards. You will help establish secure coding practices, continuous integration and continuous delivery, configuration management, observability and effective incident response. The role may also involve working with hardware, simulation environments, cloud platforms, containerised workloads and software deployed in constrained or operationally critical environments.
Applicants should have substantial commercial experience in software engineering, DevSecOps or a related field, with strong programming skills in languages such as C++, Python, Java or Rust. Experience with Linux, Git, automated testing, containerisation, orchestration platforms and CI/CD tooling is expected. You should understand secure software development, systems engineering principles and modern cloud or edge architectures. Experience of autonomous systems, robotics, artificial intelligence, real-time applications or safety-critical development would be advantageous.
You will be a proactive and clear communicator, comfortable taking ownership of complex problems while collaborating with engineers, technical specialists and stakeholders. A methodical approach, commitment to quality and security, and willingness to mentor colleagues are essential. Eligibility to obtain any required security clearance may be necessary for this position.
