Defence Security Virtual Practice Leader

We are seeking an experienced Defence Security Virtual Practice Leader to shape and lead a specialist security practice supporting complex defence and national security programmes. This senior role will provide strategic direction, technical leadership and operational oversight across virtualised environments, cloud platforms, secure networks and mission-critical systems. You will work with senior stakeholders, delivery teams and technical specialists to ensure security practices align with regulatory obligations, organisational priorities and the evolving threat landscape.

Key responsibilities will include defining and maintaining the practice strategy, governance framework, standards and delivery roadmap; leading the design and assurance of secure virtualisation and cloud solutions; and providing expert guidance on security architecture, identity and access management, hardening, vulnerability management, incident response and security monitoring. You will establish repeatable patterns, controls and ways of working, support bids and client engagements, and ensure that security risks, dependencies and remediation plans are clearly documented and actively managed. The role will also involve mentoring technical teams, developing capability, contributing to continuous improvement, and representing the practice in steering groups, design authorities and security reviews.

Applicants should have substantial experience in defence, government, critical national infrastructure or another highly regulated environment, together with a strong background in cyber security and virtualised technology platforms. You will bring knowledge of security architecture principles, secure systems engineering, risk management and relevant standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, Cyber Essentials or comparable defence and government frameworks. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and influencing senior decision-makers is essential, as is the ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Relevant professional certifications and eligibility to obtain or maintain appropriate national security clearance would be advantageous.
