Security and Privacy Research Team Leader
We are seeking an experienced Security and Privacy Research Team Leader to guide a multidisciplinary team conducting high-quality research into emerging security, privacy and digital trust challenges. This is an opportunity to shape research priorities, translate complex technical findings into practical recommendations and contribute to projects with meaningful societal and organisational impact.
You will provide strategic and technical leadership across a portfolio of research activities, setting objectives, managing resources and ensuring that work is delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales. You will mentor researchers, support professional development and foster an inclusive, collaborative environment that encourages innovation, constructive challenge and knowledge sharing.
Your responsibilities will include identifying new research opportunities, developing proposals, overseeing methodologies and reviewing outputs for quality, relevance and rigour. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including academic, industry, policy and technical audiences, and will communicate findings through reports, presentations, publications and other appropriate channels. You may also represent the team at conferences, workshops and professional forums.
Applicants should have substantial experience in security, privacy or a closely related research field, together with a strong record of delivering complex research or innovation projects. You will need excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-specialist audiences. Experience of leading, developing or managing a research team is essential.
A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience is required; a postgraduate qualification or evidence of significant published research would be advantageous. Knowledge of areas such as privacy engineering, threat modelling, secure systems, data protection, artificial intelligence security or usable security would be welcomed. You should be organised, intellectually curious and committed to ethical, responsible research. In return, you will receive opportunities for professional development and the chance to help shape forward-looking work in a supportive and purpose-driven environment.
