Microsoft IAM Consultant / Associate Manager (Active Directory)
We are seeking a Microsoft IAM Consultant / Associate Manager specialising in Active Directory to support the design, implementation and ongoing improvement of identity and access management services. This role will work with technical teams, security stakeholders and business users to ensure identities, privileged access and authentication controls are managed securely, efficiently and in line with relevant policies and regulations.
You will provide expert guidance across Active Directory, Azure Active Directory (Microsoft Entra ID), Group Policy, identity lifecycle management and access governance. Responsibilities will include assessing current environments, developing IAM roadmaps, supporting migrations and integrations, and recommending improvements to security, resilience and operational performance. You will also contribute to the design of joiner, mover and leaver processes, role-based access models, privileged access controls and access certification activities.
The role will involve leading or supporting client engagements, gathering requirements, preparing technical documentation and presenting recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will help manage project delivery, identify risks and dependencies, coordinate work across teams, and ensure solutions are implemented to agreed quality and security standards. Where required, you will support incident investigation, root-cause analysis and the resolution of complex directory and authentication issues.
Applicants should have strong practical experience with Active Directory and Microsoft identity technologies, including domain services, trusts, DNS, Group Policy, federation, synchronisation and Microsoft Entra ID. Experience with PowerShell scripting, hybrid identity, multifactor authentication, conditional access, privileged identity management and security monitoring is highly desirable. A sound understanding of IAM principles, access controls, cyber security and data protection requirements is essential.
You will be an effective communicator with strong analytical, organisational and stakeholder-management skills. The ability to work independently, mentor colleagues and contribute confidently in a consulting or client-facing environment is important. Relevant Microsoft certifications or equivalent professional experience will be advantageous. This opportunity offers exposure to complex identity transformation programmes, varied technical challenges and the chance to help shape secure, scalable IAM services.
