Cyber Security Architect
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Architect to design and strengthen secure technology environments across a complex organisation. You will provide architectural leadership, ensuring that security is embedded into business strategy, technology change and operational delivery. This is an opportunity to influence major programmes while helping to develop a resilient, risk-based security framework.
You will define security architectures, principles, standards and patterns across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments. Working closely with technology, engineering, infrastructure and product teams, you will assess proposed solutions, identify risks and recommend practical controls. You will also contribute to security reviews, threat modelling, risk assessments and the development of target-state architectures.
Key responsibilities will include translating business and regulatory requirements into robust security designs; advising on identity and access management, network security, data protection, application security and secure cloud adoption; and ensuring that solutions align with relevant policies, industry standards and good practice. You will maintain architectural documentation, support assurance activities and help resolve security exceptions through clear, proportionate recommendations.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in security architecture, cyber security engineering or a related discipline, with a strong understanding of enterprise security principles. You should be confident working across multiple technical domains and communicating complex risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience with cloud platforms, zero-trust principles, secure development practices and recognised frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001 or SABSA would be advantageous.
You will be analytical, pragmatic and able to balance security, usability, cost and delivery priorities. Strong influencing, stakeholder management and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and provide constructive challenge. Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP or equivalent experience, are desirable.
This role offers the chance to shape security strategy, improve organisational resilience and make a tangible contribution to the safe delivery of technology services. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and to maintaining high standards of confidentiality, integrity and professionalism.
